Overview
-Checking insulation of kitchen equipments and
-Checking insulation of electrical sockets at IKEA Tampines

IKEA
Date: 17/12/06
Hours Completed: 5 Hours (2000 - 0100)

It was suppose to be a non-working day, especially on sunday night. But there was a call from IKEA Tampines that the Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker has tripped in one of the circuits within the kitchen. As a result, i followed my father down with the equipments.

Once we reached there, we met up with workers from Fabristeel, who is responsible for the installtion of the equipements. After obtaining our worker pass, we began inspection of the site, which has just began its cleaning up. We started off from the front counter that stored trays of soup. One by one, the metal trays were charged with electricity from the equipment from a single point on the tray and if electrical signals were recorded on the other pointer placed at the live wire of that particular plug, the insulation of the kitchen equipment was deemed spoiled.

This step was repeated for afew other equipments, including the oven, heating equipements, dish washers and refrigerator. It was a tiring task to spot the exact location of the earth leakage. We then had a look at the ELCB and MCB at the control room to roughly point out the root of the problem. However, these were quite different from locally circuit breakers, being made in Malaysia.

By 1200, all duly inspection was conducted while a final assesment was to be submitted by my father and Fabristeel counterparts.
