Day 9 in Vietnam
Today is when the last stretch of the trek will be done. The day begain as we visited another village school in Ban Ho which fared slightly better than the other schools we had past by and seen thus far. We deliver the remainder of our load of stationery and books which we had brought along on the trek at this school where it is once again received with much gratitude. We had really learnt a spirit of gratitude throughout all the delivery of stationeries and books to the schools . After this short stop, we begin an upward trek to the mountain village of Supan which lies at an altitude of 1200metres. We drop by once again in another rural village house in the mountains to deliver some medicine to a family.
After a 5km upward trek we reach Supan and stop by at the village school where we spot a few of the students dressed in clothes darkened and smeared with dirt. I guess no matter how many times we see such a scene, it is quite impossible to grow accustomed to it. We stop there to deliver the remainder of the biscuits, some stationery and books. The teacher decides to put up a minor impromptu performance for us, and in return we put one up for them too! It was quite an interesting exchange of performances.
At lunch, we encountered a man who has a month-old injury that has yet to heal properly. Edmund from our group applies basic first aid to the wound and upon leaving we leave him some medicine, gauze and instructions on how to apply it on the wound. After lunch, it's back to Sapa, marking the end of the trek.
