Date: 12th November 2007
Venue: Marine Parade Goodlife Centre (Block 16)
Duration: 3 hours (1230-1530)
People involved: Boon Kiat, Edmund, Jiawei, Joseph, Seth, Thomas

On the 12th of November, belated Deepavali and Hari Raya celebrations were held jointly under this event. This event was meant as a celebration catered specially for the elderly. We were given the task of organizing this event by MPFSC. During the week that preceded the event, we had all met up to plan for the event and purchase the necessary logistics. The turnout for the event was 78 elderly people.

The event would start at 1400 hrs and we had come at 1230 as planned to set the area up for the event. The event consisted of different game stalls set up in the manner of a fair where the elderly could patronise different stalls at their own time. This had allowed for greater interaction between the elderly and us. The preparation for the area included the stalls being set up as well as decorations being put up.

The event first started with a game of Bingo played as a whole by all the elderly that had turned up. The game lasted till 5 winners had emerged to win the 5 prizes prepared for the game. This game had garnered good response as the elderly had been responsive and enthusiastic to this activity. After the game, we briefed them on the rules of each game stall before we had let them go off on their own to play the games. The elderly had much fun playing each game, many enjoyed simply playing a few of their favourite games repeatedly. Some of the favourites were games like Dart Throwing and Transferring Marbles. The darts and dartboard used were magnetic in nature as a safety measure. The other game of Transferring Marbles was simply the task of using chopsticks to transfer as many marbles within a set time frame .Prizes were given out at each stall to stimulate their interest in the games stalls and it had worked as the elderly had seemed eager to participate.

The event lasted till 1530 hrs when it ended. We then proceeded to clear up the venue before heading home.
